박선기는 직접적인 표현이나 재현보다는 철학적이며 시각적인 입체의 세계를 다양하게 보여준다는 측면에서 그의 작품들은 조각이 안고 있는 표현한계의 문제를 열어놓는다. “작품이 가지는 우월한 값어치가 있다면 단연 작품에서 우러나오는 깊이감이다” 라면서 “시각이 가지는 허구성과 계산된 착시가 주는 재미난 흐트러짐을 관객들이 즐겨 주었으면 한다”는 작가의 독백은 우리들을 그의 작품 앞에서 떠나지 못하게 하는 가장 근본적인 이유다.

- ABOUT
Rather than creating a direct expression or representation, Seon Ghi Bahk uses his works to present the philosophic and the visual in the three-dimensional realm and questions the limits of sculptural expression. “When a work of art has superiority over everything else, it is due to the profoundness within it,” Bhak says and continues humbly, “I hope the delightful disarray produced by the calculated optical illusion and falsehood of our vision entertain my viewers,” and this is perhaps at the heart of why viewers are glued to his work.
